TAKIS FARAZIS
Takis Farazis was born in Athens in 1964 and has been involved in music from a young age. In 1977, he began studying classical piano at the Hellenic Conservatory, graduating in 1984 with honors in piano and harmony. Alongside his classical studies, he delved into jazz music, taking lessons from the Hungarian jazz pianist Bela Lakatos. He was a founding member of the group ISKRA, with which he released two Lps: «A new day» and «Parastasis», initiating his compositional activity. In 1996, he released his first solo work titled «Dreams», receiving exceptional reviews in Greece and Japan. As a pianist and orchestrator, Farazis has collaborated with numerous Greek composers (M. Theodorakis, H. Leontis, E. Karaindrou, K. Sfetsas, N. Xydakis, Markopoulos, D. Savvopoulos, among others), singers (E. Paspala, S. Giannatou, M. Farantouri, T. Tsanaklidou, M. Printzila, K. Thomaidis, Arleta, etc.), and significant figures in the Greek and international jazz scene. He has toured throughout Greece and participated in international music festivals, presenting his original compositions. Farazis has also composed music for numerous theatrical performances at venues such as the National Theatre, the Athens Festival, the Epidaurus Festival, N. Kosmos Theatre, and Politeia Theatre, including productions like «Electra», «Antigone», «Persians», «Medea», «Phoenician Women», «Ion», «Alcestis», «Troades», among others. Since 2016, he has been performing with the Takis Farazis Trio (T. Farazis, P. Varthakouris, B. Podaras), playing his own instrumental music. Additionally, he is involved in piano teaching.
