VASILIS PAPAVASILEIOU
Musician and author of «Rule of Thumb» and «Vibrato Revisited», Vasilis Papavasileiou teaches double bass at the Odeion «Mousikoi Horizontes». He is considered one of the acclaimed Greek soloists, with international distinctions, such as recording Nikos Skalkottas's concerto for double bass and large orchestra for the Swedish label BIS. Works have been dedicated to him by composers such as Theodoros Antoniou, George Zervos, Lowell Liebermann, Giorgos Koumendakis, Pale Rosza, Vasilis Tenidis, Dimitris Kamarotos, Teppo Hauto Aho, among others. Early on, he showed interest in experimental music and musical theater. He participates in international double bass conferences (ISB and Eurobass) as a soloist and instructor. He has been the principal double bassist of the Greek National Symphony Orchestra (EL.S) since 1989.
