ANDREAS POLYZOGOPOULOS
Andreas Polyzogopoulos was born in December 1981 and grew up in Samiko, Ilia. He began his musical journey by playing the guitar until he discovered the trumpet at the age of 18. He studied jazz trumpet at the Amsterdam Conservatory (Bachelor of Arts) and the Royal Academy of Brussels (Master of Arts), where he won the Toots Thielemans competition. Additionally, he took lessons with Markus Stockhausen and attended seminars with Paolo Fresu in Sardinia.
He has recorded five personal albums and participated in over 90 recordings to date. He has collaborated with Jacques Morelenbaum, Tore Brunborg, Diederik Wissels, Tony Lakatos, Gunter “Baby” Sommer, Mode Plagal, Psarantonis, Giorgis Manolakis, Giorgos Palamiotis, Savina Yannatou, Maria Farantouri, Dulce Pontes, Dimitris Kalantzis, Nikos Sidirokastritis, David Lynch, Haig Yazdjian, Federico Casagrande, Vangelis Katsoulis, Giorgos Kontrafouris, Vassilis Rakopoulos, Stavros Lantsias, Tania Giannouli, Petros Klampanis, Takis Barberis, and Thanasis Papakonstantinou, among others.
In 2013, he released his first personal work "Heart of The Sun - The music of Pink Floyd", an album with songs from his beloved Pink Floyd, and toured Europe and New York. In 2015, he released the album "Anicca", featuring Mediterranean sounds, and in 2017, the ambient album “One inch of Love". In 2023, he released his fifth personal album titled "Petrichor" with Petros Klampanis on double bass and Wajdi Riahi on piano.
