ANASTASIS GOULIARIS

A graduate of the Jazz Department of Athenaeum Conservatory, under the tutelage of Sylvio Syros. He studied drums with Antonis Garinis and Nikos Sidiropoulos and classical percussion with K. Vorisis and K. Theodorakos. He has taken lessons from Billy Hart, Adam Nussbaum, and Mark Guiliana. He is also a graduate of the Athens University of Economics and Business. From 2000 to 2005, he toured Greece (Athens Festival 2002, Just Dance Festival 2004) and abroad (Balcan Square Festival 2002 in Skopje and Serbia, Jazz Progetto Festival in Cremona, Italy 2004, and a new tour in Italy in 2005) with the group Avaton. He participated in Giannis Papadakis' album «ex' Avaton». In 2004, with dancers/choreographers Katerina Skiada and Giannis Mandafounis, they formed the contemporary dance group Lemurius. They created and performed three works: «Projecting the Shadow» in 2004 (Kalamata International Dance Festival and Balcan Dance Platform in Prague the same year), «Human Dimensions» in 2006 (4th Athens International Dance Festival), and «Super production» in 2010 (Athens Festival in 2011). In 2012, he created the Spiral Trio with Spyros Manesis and Arion Gyftakis. A modern piano trio with intense interplay and clear references to the tradition of jazz vocabulary. The trio recorded their first album on ANKh records in 2017 and embarked on two European tours and participated in significant festivals. In 2022, they released their second album titled «Broken Blue» with Odradek Records. In 2017, the trio collaborated with the Athens Municipal Symphony Orchestra for the 17th Athens Technopolis Jazz Festival and in 2023, they were the official representative of Greece at the same festival. He has collaborated with many Greek and European musicians, performing at various jazz clubs and music venues. He taught drums, rhythmic solfège, and ensemble at the Athenaeum Conservatory from 2014 to 2020 and at the Jazz Art School from 2021, while also teaching drums at the modern art workshop «To Spirto».
