ROSA – IL CANTO DELLE SIRENE
The singer and lyricist Rosa Balistreri, managed to awaken the abused women of Sicily, with her guitar. Rosa grew up in a poor neighborhood of Naples, with a father and husband who mistreated her, leading her to prison for attempting to murder her husband. She passed away on 20th of September 1990, at the age of sixty-five, from a stroke on stage during a concert. Actress Isabella Ragonese, making her directorial debut, brings to life the story of the «greatest singer» Sicily ever had. The film also includes stories of abused individuals who, inspired by the resilient Rosa, manage to react and fight for a better life.

NOTHING HOLIER THAN A DOLPHIN
In a small Mediterranean village, two fishermen release a dolphin entangled in their nets. In turn, the dolphin saves a drowning fisherman. Isavella Margara has crafted an original short film inspired by two myths. The film draws from the narrations of the actors, blending physical theater with cinema, and intertwining the world of mythology with reality. The film has been chosen by an environmental organizations in the Mediterranean for its exploration of the critical issue of overfishing, which has resulted in the disappearance or endangerment of many marine mammals.

ISABELLA RAGONESE - ISABELLA MARGARA

ISABELLA RAGONESE is one of the best-known Italian actresses in show business. In 1998 she won her first prize at INDA (National Institute for Ancient Drama), with a short essay on the figure of Hecuba. She graduated in 2000 with a diploma in acting from the historic Teates Theater School in Palermo. The actress has acted in various successful films and TV series. She took part in Rai TV dramas such as “Il commissario Montalbano”, “La guerra è finite” and “Rocco Schiavone”. The first film in which she acted in was Nuovomondo by Emanuele Crialese in 2006. Later, she took part in the independent film Detesto l'elettronica stop and was the protagonist in Tutta la vita davanti by Paolo Virzì. She also appeared, then, in Viola di Mare, Il cosmo sul Comò, Due vite per caso, Oggi sposi, and La nostra vita for which she won the Nastro d'Argento as best supporting actress. Throughout her career, she has been nominated for a David di Donatello as best leading actress and won a Shooting Stars Award. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ISABELLA MARGARA is a Greek director and medical doctor, selected in Sarajevo Talents 2021. Her first short film '54/The Blind Turtle and the Endless Sea' (2020) screened in the Oscar-qualifying festivals and in more than 20 countries worldwide. Following its festival run, the film, distributed by Salaud Morisset, was acquired by CANAL+ in France and Cosmote TV Cinema in Greece and Cyprus. Her second script 'Nothing Holier Than A Dolphin' (2022) was awarded by one of Europe's largest environmental organizations as a story offering great environmental insight. The film had its International premiere at Clermont-Ferrand Int. Short Film Festival 2023 where it won the International Audience Award. She's interested in the therapeutic aspect of art and the transformation point between reality and fantasy. Nature and feminism are recurrent themes in her work.
